The adrenal gland is a chord-type gland. Its cells are arranged forming cords, of different thickness and orientation depending on the areas. These cords are surrounded by reticular fibers that can be demonstrated with silver techniques for reticular fibers. The image shows an adrenal cortex in which the glomerular, fasciculate and reticular zones are distinguished. The medulla is to the right of the image.
