Bend, Oregon, USA - October 3, 2022:  This hatchery was completed in 1929 and introduces trout into the Fall River.  Fly fishing welcome.

Salmon make their way up the fish ladders in the hatchery. Obstacles along the way seem to thwart their movement. Natural instinct drives the fish forward.
The salmon run is the time when salmon, which have migrated from the ocean, swim to the upper reaches of rivers where they spawn on gravel beds. After spawning, all Pacific salmon and most Atlantic salmon die, and the salmon life cycle starts over again.
A swarm of hundreds of young trout being raised for food are swimming in shallow water in one of the long concrete holding tanks at a commercial fish farm. Leaves and bits of other debris are floating on the surface of the otherwise remarkably clean water.

August 27, 2021, Valdez, Alaska. Salmon, in the thousands, have made their way to their spawning grounds. These fish fought to the very last breath of their life to do what they were intended to do.  It is quite a sight to see thousand of fish fighting, even to their demise, I to get to the place of their birth.
