Xochimilco is a borough of Mexico City. The borough is centered on the formerly independent city of Xochimilco, which was established on what was the southern shore of Lake Xochimilco in the precolonial period. Xochimilco is best known for its canals, which are left from what was an extensive lake and canal system that connected most of the settlements of the Valley of Mexico.

Tourists and local visitors, taking a trajinera ride where some go and others come in the opposite direction in the famous canals of Xochimilco, the last remains of the extensive transport system created by the Aztecs in Mexico Tenochtitlan, are located in the south of the City of Mexico, in the currently mayor's office of Xochimilco, next to a hard-working working class neighborhood. The colorful gondolas or better known as trajineras take visitors and tourists for walks alongside the boats of food vendors, artisans, mariachis and the abundant flora and fauna that exists in the canals and where they can eat, drink and go Purchases without disembarking from your trajinera. The atmosphere is festive, especially on weekends. Tourists can also visit the chilling Isla de las Muñecas, supposedly haunted and enjoy plays scheduled on specific dates throughout the year among the most famous; la llorona and events of the day of the dead in the month of November.
