View from outside of the Holy Door of St. Peter's Basilica. St. Peter's Basilica is an Italian Renaissance church in Vatican City and the papal residence within the city of Rome, Italy.
This international landmark, as seen on the external public-facing door of the baptistery, was designed by Lorenzo Ghiberti (between 1425-1452) and is an icon of the renaissance. The reliefs represent stories from the Old Testament. The visible heads are those of prophets. The doors displayed are now a copy of the original, with those being displayed in a local museum.

East Doors (Gates of Paradise) by Lorenzo Ghiberti on Florence Baptistery (Battistero di San Giovanni) in Tuscany, Italy. These doors consist of 10 panels depicting scenes from the Old Testament and were commissioned in 1424. Once completed, they were described by Michelangelo as being fit to be the 'gates of paradise'. The doors displayed are now a copy of the original, with those being displayed in a local museum.

A detailed close-up of the stunning facade of the majestic Duomo, in the heart of the medieval city of Siena, in Tuscany, central Italy. In detail, in the center of the image, the statue depicting Moses with the tablets of the Law in his hand. The construction of the Metropolitan Cathedral, or Duomo, dedicated to the Assumption of Mary, was completed between 1215 and 1370, becoming one of the religious architectural masterpieces of the Romanesque and Italian Gothic style. The lower part of the facade was made of white and pink marble by the sculptor and architect Giovanni Pisano between 1284 and 1297, while the upper part is the work of the sculptor Camaino di Crescentino, built between 1299 and 1317. Inside, the Sienese cathedral preserves countless artistic masterpieces created by Nicola Pisano and his son Giovanni, Michelangelo Buonarroti, the Pinturicchio, Donatello, Gian Lorenzo Bernini, Duccio di Buoninsegna, Simone Martini. Siena is one of the most beautiful Italian cities of art, in the heart of the Tuscan hills, famous for its immense artistic and historical heritage and for the Palio, where the seventeen old villages of the city compete every year in Piazza del Campo in one of the oldest horse racing in the world.
