Buttercups are herbaceous plants, annual or perennial, of the family Renonculaceae.\nThe name \
Caltha palustris, commonly called Marsh marigold, is a rhizomatous perennial of the Buttercup family that is native to stream margins, marshes, swamps and wet meadows. The common name, marsh marigold, is only descriptively accurate as to this plant’s habitat, because it neither looks like, nor is related to, marigolds, which is Aster family. It typically grows 12-18” tall on hollow, branching stems. Bright yellow flowers with 5-9 deep yellow petal-like sepals bloom in winter and spring (February to June).

(Potentilla flabellifolia) Fan-Leaf Cinquefoil is a common native wildflower in the Cascade Range.    Often found in the sub-alpine meadows.  Leaves give the appearance of being small fans, hence the meaning of flabellifolia.    It has five true sepals and between each sepal is a bract creating an appearance of 10 sepals.  All the petals are notched and there are ten stamens.  Sometimes a pale orange spot can be found at the base of each petal.
Short hairy perennial with long, creeping and rooting runners. Leafs in tufts, pinnate, with 15-25 oblong, sharply toothed leaflets, silvery-hairy beneath. Flowers yellow, 15-20mm, solitary, the petals twice the length of the sepals.\n\n\n\n\n\n

Argentina anserina or Potentilla anserina is a perennial flowering plant in the rose family, Rosaceae. It is known by the common names silverweed, common silverweed or silver cinquefoil. It is native throughout the temperate Northern Hemisphere. Asilomar State Beach, California.
