Photomicrograph of rotifer, probably Rotaria rotatoria. Rapidly rotating cilia at top of head, internal organs visible. Green circles are algae. Live specimen. Original image at 40X, wet mount, transmitted brightfield illumination. Indistinct image due to motion blur of live specimen and very shallow depth of field of brightfield illumination.

A crustacean related to the Woodlouse. It is found on wet rocks above the high tide mark.
Abstract natural pattern background and textures.
Photomicrograph of filamentous blue-green algae, Oscillatoria species. Each band along the stand is one cell. This filament is very short probably having recently parted from a longer one. Filaments are typically many times longer. This algae is mobile, it moves and twists through the water. San Francisco Bay, California, USA. Live specimen. Wet mount, 40X objective, transmitted brightfield illumination. Note - motion blur of live specimen, very shallow depth of field, chromatic aberration and uneven focus are inherent in light microscopy.
Costasiella kuroshimae, also known as the leaf slug, leaf sheep, or salty ocean caterpillar, is a species of sacoglossan sea slug. They are shell-less marine opisthobranch gastropod mollusks in the family Costasiellidae. They range in size from 5 millimeters (0.20 in) to 1 centimeter (0.39 in) in length.\n\nThey are found in the waters near Japan, the Philippines, and Indonesia. They have two dark eyes and two rhinophores that emerge from the tops of their heads that look not unlike sheep's ears or insect antennae, hence the common name \

Squash preparation of onion root tip cells stained to reveal chromosomes, Bright field illumination, light microscopy. This image was taken with the X40 objective lens. Depth of focus is extremely low at this magnification. Smaller apertures give greater depth of focus, but image quality deteriorates and resolution is greatly reduced. The aperture in this image was optimised for contrast and resolution. Chromatic abberation is inevitable in light microscopy, but has been kept to a minimum in this image.
Super macro photo of Spider, butterfly caterpillar, Bee, Insects and Other animals in nature.
Floating and submerged aquatic perennial with slender stems all of one kind. Leaves oval in outline, pinnately divided into narrow, toothed segments, each tooth tipped by a bristle or several bristles; bladders 3mm. Flowers deep yellow, 12-18mm, 4-10 in the raceme, the lower lip of the corolla bent down; spur conical, pointed; fruiting freely. Capsules borne in strongly recurved stalks.\nHabitat: Grows in up to 1m of fresh standing nutrient arm waters.\nFlowering Season: July-August.\nDistribution: Throughout Europe, except Iceland and Spitsbergen.\n\nThis Picture is made in de “Weerribben” (Overijssel), the Netherlands in 2020.
Beautiful yellow flower with large petals, happy in spring.
Close-up of common mullein's small yellow flowers and buds on dark background of river water (vertical). A fuzzy plant introduced to North America from Europe. Most consider it a weed, but it has attractive features, notably its lamb's-ear-like leaves. Reminiscent of a cornstalk, it grows several feet tall. A single plant produces thousands of seeds. Taken on a Connecticut roadside in June.
Yellow slime mold, also called dog vomit slime mold, Physarum polycephalum, growing over a fallen log in the Belding Wildlife Management Area of Vernon, Connecticut.
Parentucellia viscosa is a species of flowering plant in the family Orobanchaceae known by the common names yellow bartsia and yellow glandweed. Orobanchaceae.
Photomicrograph of newly hatched freshwater leech. Note multiple eyes at head and second attachment sucker at tail. Body length approx. 3 mm. Live specimen. Wet mount, 5X objective, transmitted brightfield illumination.
