It is an invertebrate and an insectivore.

Expending northwards in the United Kingdom.\nHabitat:\nMost waters with lush marshy vegetation, but generally avoids running or acid waters. Sites are often eutrophic and permanent, but also breeds in seasonally wet swamps.\nFlight Season:\nSeen as early as April and may in Turkey and  northern Africa, but in northern Europe from early June; most abundant in August, although some may persist well into November.\n\nThis is the most common Darter in the Netherlands.

An African species that extends into adjacent Eurasia. Once common only in the Mediterranean region, the robust and aggressive virtual all-red male is becoming an increasingly common sight further north.\nField characters: Tot 36-45mm, Ab 18-33mm, Hw 23-33mm. A bit larger and substantially bulkier than Sympetrum species. \n\nThis beautiful Dragonfly is nowadays a quite common  Species in the Netherlands.

The flower is Abelia × grandiflora, which is a cross between A. chinensis and A. uniflora. It is a rounded, spreading, multi-stemmed shrub in the honeysuckle family. The plant features clusters of white to pink, bell-shaped flowers which appear in the upper leaf axils and stem ends over a long period from late spring to autumn. Flowers are fragrant.
