Photomicrograph of rotifer, probably Rotaria rotatoria. Rapidly rotating cilia at top of head, internal organs visible. Green circles are algae. Live specimen. Original image at 40X, wet mount, transmitted brightfield illumination. Indistinct image due to motion blur of live specimen and very shallow depth of field of brightfield illumination.
Dinophysis algae under microscopic view, Chromista, diatoms, phytoplankton, fossils, silica, golden yellow algae

Spore bags of helminthosporium contain 8 cells. This disease causes helminthosporiosis of wheat. Soon very small and quite harmful.
Photomicrograph of an ascus with eight ascospores. This preparation was stained with acid fuchsin, which stains the cytoplasm of the ascospores a deep red color. The fungus is an ascomycete, Diplodia corticola, that infects the wood of oak trees, and is one of the causes of oak decline disease. The picture was taken with a microscope equipped with differential interference contrast optical system that gives a three dimensional effect.

Euglena is a genus of single cell flagellate eukaryotes under microscopic view for study.
Cladonia is a genus of moss-like lichens in the family Cladoniaceae. They are the primary food source for reindeer/caribou. Cladonia species are of economic importance to reindeer-herders, such as the Sami in Scandinavia or the Nenets in Russia. Antibiotic compounds are extracted from some species to create antibiotic cream. The light green species Cladonia stellaris is used in flower decorations. \nAlthough the phylogeny of the genus Cladonia is still under investigation, two main morphological groups are commonly differentiated by taxonomists: the Cladonia morpho-type and the Cladina morpho-type. The Cladonia morpho-type has many more species, and is generally described as a group of squamulose (grow from squamules), cup-bearing lichens. The Cladina morpho-types are often referred to as forage lichens, mat-forming lichens, or reindeer lichens (due to their importance as caribou winter forage). \nCladonia perforata (\

Umbellularia californica is a large hardwood tree native to coastal forests and the Sierra foothills of California, and to coastal forests extending into Oregon. It is endemic to the California Floristic Province. Oregon myrtle, California bay laurel, pepperwood, spicebush, cinnamon bush, peppernut tree, headache tree, mountain laurel. Modini Mayacamas Preserves, Sonoma County, California. Flowers. Lauraceae.
Squash preparation of onion root tip cells stained to reveal chromosomes, Bright field illumination, light microscopy. This image was taken with the X40 objective lens. Depth of focus is extremely low at this magnification. Smaller apertures give greater depth of focus, but image quality deteriorates and resolution is greatly reduced. The aperture in this image was optimised for contrast and resolution. Chromatic abberation is inevitable in light microscopy, but has been kept to a minimum in this image.
Amazing small flowers of the nature. Bunch of flowers growth from the tree trunk. The Cynometra cauliflora is in bloom, a flower that is increasingly difficult to find Cynometra cauliflora is a small, cauliflorous tree with a thick, heavily branched stem, and rather small flowers
