With the reformation in 1536 Denmark became protestant. Most Danish kings and queens are buried in the cathedral, which is on the UNESCO World Heritage list.

The Basilica of Saint-Denisis a large former medieval abbey church and present cathedral in the commune of Saint-Denis, a northern suburb of Paris. The Cathedral is the most important church in Denmark, the official royal burial church of the Danish monarchs since the 15th century. The architecture of the Cathedral shows 800 years of European architectural styles, and it's one of the earliest examples in Scandinavia of a gothic cathedral to be built in brick. Especially on this photo is a sarcophagus of Scandinavian Queen Margrethe I.
