Fatehpur Sikri, near Agra, is a city predominantly built in red sandstone by Mughal Emperor Akbar. It is one of the finest examples of Mughal architecture and the culmination of Hindu and Muslim architecture. The mosque is said to be a copy of the one in Mecca.Allthough the city of Fatehpur Sikri is in ruins,  the mosque is still in good shape and with a bit of  imagination you can transport yourself back to the rich era of gold tapestry, drapes, plush carpets and all that implicates royalty.

Built in 1671, Badshahi Mosque is the crown jewel of Lahore, a symbol of the Mughal Empire (1526-1857), and one of the most beautiful places in Pakistan. Its architecture is characterized by carved red sandstones, which was typical of the Mughal era.\n\nThe vast courtyard of the mosque can hold up to 100,000 worshippers, making it the second largest mosque in Pakistan! I recommend spending at least a couple of hours here to admire all the marvelous details of the architecture.
