The National Monument Westerbork is a war memorial at the place where the railway connection from Hooghalen ended in Camp Westerbork and from where the trains left for the extermination camps in eastern Europe during the Second World War.\n\nA monument was erected in 1992 at the roll call site of the former transit camp to pay tribute to the 102,000 people from the Netherlands who were murdered by the Nazi regime. The monument consists of stones and each stone represents a victim.

The municipality of Utrecht has placed warning signs to warn the population about blue-green algae. Blue algae (Cyanobacteria) are bacteria that multiply strongly in water in the summer due to high food richness and high temperatures. For health reasons it is recommended not to swim in water with too much blue-green algae, symptoms such as headache, swelling of the eyelids, irritation of mucous membranes, skin irritation, nausea, diarrhea to fever. Pets can also get sick by drinking water with blue algae.\n\nDe gemeente Utrecht heeft borden geplaatst waarschuwt om de bevolking te waarschuwen voor blauwalg. Blauwalgen (Cyanobacteria) zijn bacteriƫn die zich in de zomer in water door hoge voedselrijkdom en hoge temperaturen sterk vermeerderen. Vanwege de gezondheid wordt aangeraden niet te zwemmen in water met te veel blauwalg, men kan klachten krijgen als hoofdpijn, zwelling van de oogleden, irritatie van slijmvliezen, huidirritatie, misselijkheid, diarree tot koorts. Ook huisdieren kunnen ziek worden door het drinken van water met blauwalgen.
