People visit the Douaumont ossuary, a memorial containing the remains of some 130,000 soldiers who died on the battlefield during the Battle of Verdun in World War I. It is located in Douaumont, France, within the Verdun battlefield. During the 300 days of the Battle of Verdun (21 February 1916 -€“ 19 December 1916) at least 230,000 men died, though some estimates are much higher.

Vatican City, Vatican City State - The obelisk at the Vatican in the middle of Saint Peters Square is said to be around 4,500 years old making it over 1,500 years older than the city of Rome.
