In 1859  a Carrara marble statue representing the Empress Josephine de Beauharnais, wife of  the French Emperor Napoleon 1, was  installed at La Savane Park in Fort de  France. In 1991, the statue was beheaded by a group of people and red paint was splattered on it as a reminder of her role in reinstating slavery.

Joseph Hooker was an American Civil War general for the Union, chiefly remembered for his decisive defeat by Confederate General Robert E. Lee at the Battle of Chancellorsville in 1863. At her feet are two small children, representing Mars and Neptune, the gods of war and the sea, respectively. \n\nThe monument is the work of sculptor Franklin Simmons (1839-1913).\n\nIn the background is the west face of the Capitol Building.

Beautiful day at The Rhode Island State House, the capitol of the state of Rhode Island. The current Rhode Island State House is Rhode Island's seventh state house and the second in Providence after the Old State House. The building is covered with white Georgia marble and was constructed from 1895 to 1904.
