Adult male specimen have more intense coloration and extended cutaneous appendages than females, for juveniles it's not yet distinctive. $Devil Scorpionfish or False Stonefish Scorpaenopsis diabolus occurs in the tropical Indo-Pacific on rubble or weedy coralline-rock bottoms of reef flats and lagoon and seaward reefs in a depth range from 1-70m, max. length 30cm. \n\nScorpaenopsis diabolus is relatively uncommon. When disturbed, the species flashes its inner pectoral fins. The venomous dorsal sting can inflict a painful injury. The species occurs solitary like this specimen or in pairs and is often partly buried. \n\nThis specimen was encountered in the Lembeh Strait, Indonesia \n1°28'47.196 N 125°14'12.42 E at 22m depth$

$Painted Frogfish Antennarius pictus occurs in the tropical Indo-Pacific from the Red Sea and East Africa to the Hawaiian and Society islands in a depth range from 0 to 75m, max. length 30cm. The species inhabits shallow sheltered reefs. Adults usually are with sponges, mimicking small sponges or nudibranchs. Marking patterns and colour are highly variable. The different colorations are not due to different specimens or distinct subspecies but are instead phases of the same individual. Over days or weeks, the frogfish adjusts its color to match the substrate, coral, sponges, or other surroundings. \nThe species is an ambush predator, waiting patiently for unsuspecting prey that thinks it is swimming past a sponge. \nThis orange-red specimen was opening his mouth from time to time. \nLembeh Strait, North Sulawesi, Indonesia\n1°28'47.196 N 125°14'12.42 E at 12m depth$
