Pai Ti Kong is celebrated on the 8th day of the first month of Lunar calendar. It is a festival of particular significant to Hokkien people (subgroup of Chinese) because it is the birthday of the Jade Emperor who protected the Hokkien people from being massacred.\n\nOn this night, the Hokkiens set up a table draped in a red tablecloth with variety of food which are to serve to the Jade Emperor. Some of the most popular items they must have are sweet cakes red tortoise buns, prosperity cakes and bright pink miniature pagodas. Stickers with Chinese characters like “prosperity” and “happiness” were sticked on the fruits and food to resemble good wealth, luck, health for the family in the whole year.\n\nAlso particularly relevant are the piles of gold paper folded into the old-style shape of money. These papers are hung from the sugarcanes before being burnt as a thanksgiving offering to the Thien Kong. After these gold papers are set ablaze, the family members then took the stalks of sugarcane from the altars nd threw them into the flames.

Samson, a Nazirite man, was blessed by God. He found a woman in Timnah that he wanted to marry. The marriage led to betrayal and an extended time of anger and violence in the life of Samson. He became a very strong man. He became the leader of Israel and met a woman named Delilah. The Philistine kings used Delilah to betray Samson again. They wanted her to find out the secret to his strength. She eventually manipulated Samson into telling her that his strength came from his hair. She arranged for it to be cut. God took away his strength as punishment. The Philistines locked him in jail and blinded him. They planned a celebration of their god, Dagon, and planned for blind Samson to entertain them. Samson told the boy leading him in to take him to the columns. He prayed that God would return his strength. God heard his prayer and granted him strength. Samson toppled the columns killing himself and the Philistines who were there.
