The Thompson Sub Machine Gun is a famous and iconic piece of WW2 hardware, developed in the late 1910s, and officially adopted into the US Army as the M1A1 Thompson. This one belongs to the United States Marine Corps (The US Army didn't use camouflage during WW2) and was left on the floor of their camp at a military show. \n\nThis image was taken at a Living History and Military Vehicle experience over the weekend of 17th-18th June 2023 in Ashdown, Worcester, England. \n\nAn event where reenactors, living historians, and members of the public can come to experience what life was like during the second world war, with live demonstrations, battle reenactments, and static displays from all over the world.

The Sten Gun, Britain's answer to the need of a sub machine gun, cost $11 USD (in 1942), whereas the Thompson from the US cost over $70 USD. A cheap and inelegant solution, it got the job done, utilising a lot of the machines and tooling already built in the UK, with production times being kept to the bare minimum. \n\nThis image was taken at an outdoor event over the weekend of 11th-13th August 2023, where reenactors, living historians, and members of the public can come to experience what life was like during the second world war, with live demonstrations, battle reenactments, and static displays from all over the world.
