Caesar Augustus was the first Roman emperor, revered as father of the homeland (Patri Patriae) and artecife of a long period of domination, prosperity and peace throughout the empire, known as Pax Romana or Pax Augustea. The Roman Forum, one of the largest archaeological areas in the world, represented the political, legal, religious and economic center of the city of Rome, as well as the nerve center of the entire Roman civilization. In 1980 the historic center of Rome was declared a World Heritage Site by Unesco. Image in original 4:3 ratio and high definition quality.

Herculaneum Italy\n\nMarcus Nonius Balbus was a Roman politician of the 1st century BC. BC from Herculaneum. He was an important patron of his hometown and a confidant of the future Emperor Augustus. As a result of the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79, which buried the city under ash and preserved it, many inscriptions and statues have been preserved that document his life and work in exceptional detail. \nAn inscription in his honor above the entrance to the stage of the theater was probably placed after his death and marked the place for his chair of honor. The placement opposite the place of honor for the late consul Appius Claudius Pulcher shows the prominent position of Balbus in Herculaneum.
