Side of a main battle tank protected using explosive reactive armour (ERA). Reactive armor is a technology that attempts to protect armored vehicles against anti-tank weapons using a counter-explosion. The reactive armor is placed on top of the passive steel or composite armor in the form of tiles / bricks. It consists of a layer of explosive, which is in turn covered with a metal plate. If a projectile hits the reactive armor, the explosive layer explodes and throws the metal plate towards the projectile. Originally developed by Israel and the Soviet Union.

15 October 2020. Chern' railway station.\n\nAlmost the first armored train-monument to appear in Russia was the armored train at the Chern station near the southern border of the Tula region. The armored monster makes an indelible impression, especially on passengers passing by trains.\nAt the Chern station on May 12, 1942, the railwaymen of the 31st special battalion of armored trains took the first battle of the war.\n The armored train at the Chern station is not a historical monument - it is a remake to the last rivet. Only the platforms are original in it, the locomotive of which is not visible, a pair of anti-aircraft guns and one machine gun. The rest, alas, is a post-war creation.\n\nNo property release necessary, because armored train is free of charge ( no fees for visit),not located in restricted area and is not under copyright protection : has no owners ( private or company) but belongs to whole Russian nation as memory to World War II.
