This is an extreme close up of a tiny plant. The term 'officinalis' in the Latin name indicates a former medical use, and it is said that this plant was used in Ireland to relieve nipple soreness. Veronica, also called Speedwell, is a carefree and easy-to-grow perennial with long spikes of small petals in purple, blue, pink and white. It grows in clusters and blooms from spring to autumn (Spring bloom, Summer bloom and Autumn bloom; April-November).

(Veronica cusickii) Cusick's Speedwell is a mis summer wildflower in the Cascade and Olympic Ranges. These plants can be found in moist meadows and along stream banks in the sub-alpine and alpine zones. It has leaves which are hairless, blue flowers and long stamens and styles.

Low to short, spreading, often sprawling, hairy perennial; stems with two opposite lines of hairs. Leaves oval to oblong-lanceolate, dark green, toothed, unstalked or short-stalked. Flowers bright blue with a white center, 9-10mm. Capsule heart-shaped, with a hairy margin, shorter than the calyx.
