This is an extreme close up of a tiny plant. The term 'officinalis' in the Latin name indicates a former medical use, and it is said that this plant was used in Ireland to relieve nipple soreness. It has also been associated with treatments for gastrointestinal problems and coughing. Mitcham Common, Surrey.

Culver's root (Veronicastrum virginicum)  is a perennial herb native to the United States.  It is also known as: Culver's root; Culver's-root; Culverpsyic; Culver's physic; Bowman's root; blackroot or blackroot.  Culver's root has been used medicinally for liver disorders and constipation, but its use can be dangerous.

Veronica, also called Speedwell, is a carefree and easy-to-grow perennial with long spikes of small petals in purple, blue, pink and white. It grows in clusters and blooms from spring to autumn (Spring bloom, Summer bloom and Autumn bloom; April-November).
(Veronica cusickii)  Cusick's Speedwell is a mis summer wildflower in the Cascade and Olympic Ranges.  These plants can be found in moist meadows and along stream banks in the sub-alpine and alpine zones.    It has leaves which are hairless, blue flowers and long stamens and styles.
Low to short, spreading, often sprawling, hairy perennial; stems with two opposite lines of hairs. Leaves oval to oblong-lanceolate, dark green, toothed, unstalked or short-stalked. Flowers bright blue with a white center, 9-10mm. Capsule heart-shaped, with a hairy margin, shorter than the calyx.

Low to short, generally sprawling hairy annual; stems branched. Leaves oval-triangular, mostly alternate except for the lowermost, pale green, coarsely toothed, short-stalked.\nFlowers bright blue, 8-12mm, the lowermost petal usually white, solitary on slender stalks at the base of the upper leaves. Capsule 2-lobed, borne on recurved stalks, the lobes diverging, keeled.\nHabitat: Cultivated ground on a variety of soil types, locally abundant. Flowering throughout the year.\nDistribution: Naturalized through Europe, since early in the nineteenth century.\n\nThis is a common Species on the described Habitat and other Rural Places in the Netherlands.
