The stink bug, also called stinkbug, derives its name from its tendency to eject a foul smelling glandular substance secreted from pores in the thorax when disturbed. Many stink bugs and shield bugs are considered agricultural pest insects, because they can create large populations which feed on crops (damaging production), and they are resistant to many pesticides. They are a threat to cotton, corn, sorghum, soybeans, native and ornamental trees, shrubs, vines, weeds, and many cultivated crops.

This Tenebrionid Beetle, also called a Darkling Beetle, was on Sand Dune 7 in the Namibia Desert. The beetle's claim to fame is that it can stand on its head in the morning haze and drink the dew that condenses on its body and falls into its mouth, thus surviving the arid desert.
Larvae of these beetles are xylophagous. They mainly feed on downy oak (Quercus pubescens), evergreen oak (Quercus ilex) and cork oak (Quercus suber). These longhorn beetle are considered a pest of oaks\n\nThey are considered a danger for Quercus Forests
