La Casse Déserte, is a barren, rocky landscape located at 2200 metres in the municipality of Arvieux, on the slope south of the Col d'Izoard.  It is a mythical place of the Tour de France. La Casse Déserte, located at the entrance of the Queyras Regional Park, is a geological oddity: for more than 2 km the road winds between the limestone rocks, with boulders at their foot, standing upright like needles with their characteristic ochre colour.  La Casse Déserte was protected in 1937.

Monument Rocks National Natural Landmark is located in Gove County, Kansas.  Monument Rocks was designated as the first National Natural Landmark in Kansas back in 1968 and in 2006 was voted one of the 8 natural wonders of the state.  Monument Rocks is located 20 miles south of the town of Oakley and about 4 miles east of U.S. 83.  Access only by gravel roads.
