September 2023: a boy and a girl and three farmers, in Swiss traditional costumes, bring the goats and cows\nback to the valley in a traditional procession called “Alpabzug”. The Alpfahrt is still an important festival day for farmers today. The cattle are ceremoniously driven into the valley. Early in the morning they set off on the long march into the valley. From far away you can hear the organ-like sound of the three coordinated bells of the herdsmen, the chirping of the herdsmen, the dull mooing and the poisonous barking of the Appenzeller mountain dog, which is popularly known as the Bläss.$
