The majestic Square of Přemysl Otakar II in Ceske Budejovice is a breathtaking landmark, bordered by 48 colorful, medieval-era townhouses with restored Baroque and Renaissance facades. At its heart stands Samson’s Fountain, the largest in Czechia, a Baroque masterpiece built between 1721 and 1727. Dominating the square is the elegant Baroque Town Hall, reconstructed in the 18th century after a fire. Once home to nobility, this square now reflects centuries of history and architectural grandeur.

The Baroque fountain was built in 1721-1727 by work of sculptor Josef Dietrich and stonemason master Zacharias Horn. The technical solution of the fountain was designed by Franz Baugut. The Black Tower was built in the 16th century. The St. Nicholas Cathedral was laid around 1265. The current appearance of the cathedral is from the 17th century.
