Lagoon Damselfish Hemiglyphidodon plagiometopon occurs the tropical Western Pacific from Thailand to the Philippines, to Indonesia, New Guinea and the Timor Sea (Ashmore Reef), to Western Australia, the Great Barrier Reef, toNew Britain and Solomon Islands in a depth range from 1 to 20m, max. total length 18cm, a large damselfish species. \nAdults occur in protected lagoon and coastal reefs around branching corals, usually with lots of algae on coral bases on the substrate. The species feeds on algae. Lagoon Damselfishes practice distinct pairing during courtship and spawning. The eggs are demersal and adhere to the substrate, males guard and aerate them. \nLembeh Strait, Indonesia\n1°27'13.104 N 125°14'14.634 E at 4m depth

Adults occur in steep outer reef, occasionally in deep lagoons and along channel walls, usually in current prone habitats and where there are abundant gorgonian and long sea-whip corals on which they lay and guard eggs. The species feeds on zooplankton. \nMost of the time, a fish's behavior depends on its species. From time to time it is possible to meet exceptions, like this specimen, a very curious character, not shy at all, who kept looking at the camera.\nTriton Bay, Indonesia, 3°54'52.0617 S 134°7'21.3867 E at 9m depth

The common humbug, also known as the whitetail dascyllus or humbug damselfish, is a species of marine fish in the family Pomacentridae. It is found in the tropical waters of the Indo-Pacific region, from the Red Sea to the Tuamotu Archipelago.\n\nThe common humbug is a small fish, reaching a maximum length of about 12 cm. It is distinctively patterned with three black bars on the body and a white tail. The snout and pelvic fins are also white.\n\nCommon humbugs are found in shallow coral reefs, where they form aggregations around coral bommies. They are omnivorous, feeding on algae, invertebrates, and small fish.\n\nCommon humbugs are protogynous hermaphrodites, meaning that females can change sex to become males. One or two dominant males defend a single branching coral head with a harem of juveniles and females. In return for the shelter provided by the coral, the fish remove unwanted algal growth from the coral.
