The statue depicts Cosimo I de' Medici, the first Grand Duke of Tuscany, on horseback, dressed in full armor and holding a baton.\nThe statue was created by the renowned Italian sculptor Giambologna in the late 16th century. It stands atop a pedestal made of white Carrara marble, which features reliefs depicting scenes from Cosimo's life and the allegories of Justice and Military Virtue.\nThe statue itself is a masterpiece of Renaissance art, with its dynamic composition and attention to detail. Cosimo's horse is shown rearing up on its hind legs, with its front legs lifted as if in motion. The majestic equestrian statue of Emperor Marcus Aurelius, located in the center of Piazza del Campidoglio (Roman Capitol Square) on the Capitoline Hill, in the historic core of Rome.
