Muslim dynasties ruled Granada from 711. The Nasrids – one of the Muslim dynasties – valued luxury and ease, and have left behind a number of buildings in Granada that indicate their appreciation for life’s finer pleasures. Among these is the Alhambra; the most well-known. Today, the Alhambra’s beauty derives primarily from the 13th and 14th centuries, when the founder of the Nasrid dynasty relocated his court there.

The Alhambra is a palace and fortress complex of the Moorish monarchs of Granada, in southern Spain (known as Al-Andalus when the fortress was constructed), occupying a hilly terrace on the south-eastern border of the city of Granada.It was the residence of the Muslim kings of Granada and their court, but is currently a museum exhibiting exquisite Islamic architecture.
