$It is the only seagull with a constant occurrence in Brazil that is larger, reaching around 58 centimeters in length (Sick, 1997). These gulls can be separated by plumage pattern into four age classes (Novelli, 1997).\n\nThe adult has a black back and upper parts of the wings, while the head and lower parts are white. The beak is yellow, with a red spot at the tip of the jaw. The legs are greenish-yellow. Juveniles have grayish-brown upperparts plumage densely speckled with white; the underparts are white mottled with brown. The beak is black and the legs are pinkish gray.$
