The flamingo is a species of long-legged bird that lives in groups. The word flamingo comes from the Spanish word 'flamingo', an early form of 'flamenco'. These words come from the Latin word flamma, which means 'fire'. They belong to the genus Phenicopterus and the family Phenicopteridae.

The Caribbean flamingo (Phoenicopterus ruber) is a species of bird from the flamingidae family. \nCaribbean flamingo in artificial habitat.\nFlamingos are a type of wading bird in the family Phoenicopteridae, the only bird family in the order Phoenicopteriformes. Four flamingo species are distributed throughout the Americas, including the Caribbean, and two species are native to Africa, Asia, and Europe.
