Beja Airport, Portugal: sonar buoys chutes - sonobuoys are used in anti-submarine warfare and submarine rescue - there are two main types, active buoys send out sonar pulses, which reflect off of the submarine, and the return is datal inked back to the aircraft, passive buoys listen for any radiated noise from the submarine contact -  hydrophone sensors and stabilizing equipment are below the water surface, the buoy relays acoustic information from its hydrophone via UHF/VHF radio to operators on board the aircraft - Lockheed P-3 Orion aircraft, a military derivative of the Lockheed L-188 Electra. At approximately 7:30 am on June 13, 2022, a twin engine airplane flying eastwards over Bear Creek Lake Park dove steeply over Mount Carbon in Lakewood Colorado, and then banked heavily to the north and successfully crash landed on the nearby 10th fairway of the Fox Hollow Golf Course. The plane broke its nose landing gear near the putting green. FAA investigators, Lakewood Police and Bear Creek Lake Park Rangers arrived at the scene. Photographing from the adjacent, public accessible, Bear Creek Lake Park trail, the photos show investigators inspecting and photographing the plane with nearby golf carts and police as well as homes in the distance.
