Nuuk / Godthåb, Sermersooq, Greenland: charming houses of Nuuk and the Sermitsiaq / Sadelø mountain and Nuup Kangerlua / Nuuk / Godthaab fjord (part of the Davis Strait / Labrador Sea / North Atlantic Ocean). Sermitsiaq is a 1,210-metre-tall (3,970 ft) mountain, featured in the flag and coat of arms of Nuuk, the summit is crowned by a sharp west–east ridge, from which three summit points emerge. These resemble a saddle, which gave the mountain and the island its Danish name

$Around 1,750 people live in Tasiilaq (formerly Ammassalik). That is half the population of the whole of East Greenland.\nThe port of Tasiilaq is accessible from July to November. The heliport connects the town with East Greenland's airport in Kulusuk.\n The town has a school for 450 children, a children's home, two kindergartens, a crèche and a retirement home. Tasiilaq has a hospital, a police station, a community centre, a municipal office and a sports hall. Shopping facilities include a supermarket, and there is a hotel overlooking the town.\nTasiilaq is also the headquarters of POST Greenland, from where Greenlandic stamps are sent to philatelists. [\nOn 5 February 1970, the strongest Piteraq ever recorded, an East Greenland storm phenomenon with wind speeds of around 300 km/h, destroyed large parts of the town, so much so that consideration was given to abandoning it.$
